How does Knapp see herself as similar to Tess?

Knapp says she and Tess both knew something was wrong but she herself always felt better so she continued drinking. She justified the drinking because she seemed like she was so entirely put together. Because nothing bad was happening, there was no reason to stop. Sure, she drove drunk, but she never killed anyone, or her herself, so she continued.
