Who is Moon Shadow from Dragonwings?

Moon Shadow is an eight year old boy, living in the "Middle Kingdom" (China) with his mother. He does not remember much about his father, who went to America when he was quite small. When we first meet Moon Shadow he is curious about America, but he is also frightened by stories he's heard, and tales told by those who've returned.

Early in the novel, Windrider sends for his son, who travels to America to be with him.
