What did Tanis know that the others did not?

Tanis knew, while some of the others cheered, that the Dragon Highlord would not give up the prize that was the Green Gemstone Man short of death. So while she wasn't there at the moment, there was no hope of her giving up and going away, as Tanis knew how much the reward meant to Kitiara.
