In chapters 7-13 of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, how do Deckard’s experiences with androids challenge/reinforce his understanding of what it means to be human?

In Chapter Nine, Rick is almost fooled by a Nexus-6 android in this chapter. Even as he administers the empathy test, Luba Luft manages to use logic (in the form of turning his own questions against him) to distract and delay Rick until she can find an opportunity to pull her laser pistol on him.

Once Rick is subdued, he is forced to start questioning his own humanity. This is an interesting example of the way that the intelligent androids dehumanize Rick in that they strip away his contact with the outside world, causing him to doubt his own humanity. However, Rick is determined to discover the truth, as evidenced by his asking to see the "old" police hall.
