Who is Sandra Stansfield from Different Seasons and what is their importance?

Sandra Stansfield is a young, unmarried, pregnant woman, who is fired by her employer on account of her condition. She is also asked to leave her apartment. Sandra goes to Dr. McCarron, who oversees her pregnancy. She is killed as a result of an accident, but not before delivering her child. McCarron arranges the baby's adoption.
