What is the theme of this story

Image and popularity are important themes. Middle school is a difficult place to be. Greg wants to fit in and improve his popularity rating. Greg figures he can do two things: he can draw cartoons for the school newspaper and he can be the class clown. Greg also wants a chance with girls. He figures he really needs to improve his image for that.
