Who is Ae'mhnuu from Deep Wizardry and what is their importance?

Ae'mhnuu is the regional Senior Wizard. He is out with S'reee, who he is about to promote to Advisory Wizard. While in the process of doing a magic, a ship suddenly appears. Ae'mhnuu is killed by the ship's gun and S'ree is injured.
