Head of NUMA, James Sandecker, is one of Dirk's Pitt's closest friends. When the President is kidnapped, Sandecker immediately thinks of Pitt, as Pitt once saved his life. Pitt doesn't disappoint his superior, and in the end, he saves the lives of Loren Smith and the Vice-President.
