Why did Hannah not mind the children's clinic at first?

At first Hannah did not mind the children's center. It was better in the beginning, though it was not good. She and Jonathan were allowed to sleep in the same room. They were allowed to eat together there too rather than eating in the hall with all the other children. They were allowed to go to the toilet regularly. Then everything changed. Jonathan was put in another room, and they had to eat with the other children.
