The author learned this term from Toni Morrison. In high school he read Morrison's first novel, The Bluest Eye, and it demonstrates the master narrative. The author saw and interview between Bill Moyers and Morrison in which she stated the master narrative refers to "the whole notion of what is ugliness, what is worthlessness, what is contempt ... The master narrative is whatever ideological script that is being imposed by the people in authority on everybody else" (77).
