Crittenden Middle School was a minority-majority school. "In the early to mid-1990s, between thirteen hundred and fourteen hundred students from fifth to eighth grade attended Crittenden. About a third were Latinos, mostly Mexican; the other third were Asians, most of whom were Filipino, some Vietnamese and Indian; and the remaining third were split between white and black students" (17).
