How did the author's grandparents feel about him moving to Washington, DC to work at the Washington Post? Why?

Lolo and Lola were against the author moving to DC. They were concerned about Vargas bringing publicity to himself, as well as lying in order to secure work. They feared that he would be caught, arrested, detained, and deported.
