Why is Camelia's mother so upset?

Ben brings Camelia to Knead at Camelia's insistence. She has the keys to get in. They head in, and Ben notices the smell of turpentine on the air. She shows Ben the works she's created. Ben also wonders if Camelia's mother is alright, insisting that what happened with her mother and her aunt was not her mother's fault. Camelia tells Ben he shouldn't blame himself, either. Camelia begins teaching Ben about sculpture, and how to do it, and they end up kissing.
