Who is Lando Calrissian from Dark Force Rising and what is their importance?

Lando Calrissian is a former gambler and business owner. At the start of the novel, he has just turned down a commission to be a general in the rebellion. Lando reluctantly takes part in many of the novel's skirmishes, but he would far rather go back to making money and living the easy life.
