Douglas and his father see the wonders of nature very differently. For example, Douglas's father claims that a sandwich eaten outdoors tastes different than one eaten inside as it is infused with the flavors of mint and pine sap which does wonders for the appetite, while to Douglas the sandwich always tastes the same.
