Who is Iranon from Dagon and Other Macabre Tales and what is their importance?

Iranon is a character in the story, The Quest of Iranon. He is described as golden-haired youth, who travels from town to town-singing songs about his lost homeland of Aira. Iranon claims to be the prince of Aira. Unfortunately, when he learns that Aira is nothing more than a figment of his imagination, he dies.
