Why does Weston ask Wesley what he thinks of the house in Act Two?

In Act Two, Weston asks Wesley what he thinks of the house and the entire place. Wesley tells him he would not sell it. Weston asks Emma what she is going to do with herself, and she says she does not know. Weston tells her to figure something out because he has sold the house to a buyer that gives him cash.
