The overarching tone in this book that is dedicated to the animals of the wild is soft and reverent. Although the adventurers, Mark and Delia, possess great knowledge of the wild animals they love, they are continuously surprised by their behavior and beauty. Everyday they spend on the Kalahari Desert is Christmas morning for Mark and Delia.
