When Henry proposed to Miss Vernon's sister, their father refused to allow her to marry him. Instead, Henry became fed up with his father's temper and left, leaving Art alone with the old man and his temper. Art would repeat the same mistakes that his father made, making them with his own sons until only Calvin was left. Art and Calvin would live alone together for nearly a dozen years, never talking to one another before Art finally passed away. Calvin married and now has three children, Marie, Laurie, and Rosie.
