Who is Marie from Crank and what is their importance?

Marie is Kristina's mother. Although, they once had a close relationship, Kristina blames Marie's remarriage, and the subsequent birth of her younger brother for the disconnect in their relationship. Kristina is jealous of the time Marie spends with Scott and Jake and resents the time she spends with them.
