Who is Buddy/Adam from Crank and what is their importance?

Adam, better known as Buddy, is Kristina's first real boyfriend, and the person who introduces her to crank. She meets Adam while visiting her father in New Mexico, and the two quickly become involved in a relationship. Their relationship is short-lived, however, as soon after Kristina returns home.... Adam wants to see other people. Namely, his former girlfriend.
