How does Amari feel when Polly reminds her in Part Five of her strong spirit and survival instincts?

Amari is reminded of the way that those words, also uttered by Afi, helped her to survive the passage from Africa to America. However, she now feels that all hope is gone and that "sometimes spirit die" (154).
