What you have to ask yourself is what all of these people have in common with Moody. The answer would be that all of them challenged previously held beliefs and social norms. Each introduced something new to society, just as Moody did by joining and supporting many of the groups that she joined. She never considered herself a writer but rather a civil rights activist (who used words as her platform).
