Who is Lon Lamb from Cloudstreet and what is their importance?

Lon is the youngest of the Lamb children, and over the course of the novel, we watch him grow up. When we first meet Lon, he is an infant. We see him make mistakes, argue with his parents, impregnate a young woman (Pansy), and become a father.
