Who is Lon Lamb from Cloudstreet and what is their importance?

Lon is the youngest child of the Lamb children. He is only a baby when the novel open. Over the course of the novel, Lon marries a young girl after learning that she is expecting his child. He later becomes the father of a baby girl.
