Who is Kitta. from Climbing the Stairs and what is their importance?

Kitta is Vidya's older brother, and the siblings are very close. He isn't sure that nonviolence is the best solution to every problem. Kitta takes care of his father while they live in their grandfather's home. After he finishes school, he decides to join the Indian British army and help fight against Hitler. Kitta dreams of fighting for Indian independence when he returns from war.
