In City of Ashes, a 'blessing' gives access to the person standing outside of the guarded and spelled institution as long as the person giving the blessing intends no harm to the people inside. Of course, the loop hole here (which is exploited at least once) is that using someone to give the blessing who is a good person would gain them access, even if the person with them intended harm.
