The swamp represents the old guard and nature. It is the physical representation of the world pre-industrialization and pre-common knowledge. This swamp is one of confusion and strange beings but also one of incredible beauty in it's natural splendor. It wants to protect itself and the reaction of the Boggy Mun against the draining is the personification of nature resisting against the mechanization of the world.
