Who is Jane from Children of the Mind and what is their importance?

Jane, who is created accidentally during the first novel in the series when the Hive Queen reaches out philotically to communicate with Ender, owes a great deal of her character to him. Even though she exists as a life force within the computer and ansible networks, she is very human in outlook and personality. Strictly speaking, Jane is also one of the title characters, a child of the mind and the offspring of both Ender and the Hive Queen in the sense that they were responsible for her creation.
