What internal conflict does Inan struggle with in the novel, Children of Blood and Bone?

Inan's primary desire in life is to impress his father by becoming a good and worthy king. In order to do this, he believes that magic must be permanently destroyed from his country. But, things become complicated when he suddenly discovers his own magic powers awakening within him.
