Who is Jose Carolos from Child of the Dark and what is their importance?

Jose Carolos is Carolina's son. When hungry, he searches through the trash for food, something his mother finds dangerous, but at times.... she also finds it to be a delicious treat. Jose does not exactly follow the straight and narrow path, and after he is sent to juvenile court.... Carolina is merely happy to know he is alive.
