How does the author use foreshadowing in Cheaper by the Dozen?

In Chapter Seven, it is obvious that Mother didn't always agree with Dad's educational practices, yet she still went along with them. On pg. 53, the author writes, "...Dad, who was in his fifties, wanted to get as many of his dozen as possible through school and college before he died," a statement foreshadowing his father's early death.
