What interrupts Calder's writing about his assignment?

Calder is interrupted by commotion outside. Ms. Hussey, Mrs. Sharpe, and Mr. Watch are all there. It seems Mrs. Sharpe was not feeling well, and Ms. Hussey was trying to get her to sit down. Calder watches them until they leave and wonders what is going on.
