It becomes clear to the reader that Mr. Wonka insists on integrity within his workforce when Grandpa Joe reveals that Mr. Wonka had once fired his entire workforce. He had taken this action in response to finding out that his workers were delivering his secrets to their secret bosses, who are also confectioners.
