What does Catherine observe of the Jewish group that passes through the village?

When a group of Jewish people pass through the village on their way out of England, Catherine spies on them and listens to their stories. She expects them to have horns and tails, but concludes that they are a lot like the Christians, as they tell stories from the Old Testament and about where they came from.
