Who is Eamon Farrell from Cathedral and what is their importance?

Eamon Farrell is the oldest of the Fenians. He is middle aged man, who has a son in Long Kesh. After taking the Cathedral, Farrell found an escape hatch which he figured he could use if necessary. When the assault on the Cathedral began, he entered the escape hatch, running into the Third Assault Squad and was killed.
