Who is Zandile?

Zandile is Getrude’s closest friend. After Getrude’s death, Zandile takes Phephelaphi in with her. Though Zandile is protective of the young girl, it is clear that Zandile has a somewhat violent edge to her and can become sarcastic and mocking when she feels hurt. Zandile is also a sex worker. She is in a long-term relationship with Bodiyi, in part because she likes the feeling of owning and possessing another man. In the end it is revealed that she may in fact be Phephelaphi's biological mother.
