Who is the main character in Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee by Dee Brown?

There is not one main character to this book rather a collection of historical people that contributed to the history of Wounded Knee. The HBO adaptation of the book, however, was Charles Eastman né Ohiyesa played by Adam Beach.
