Who calls Eddie at the end of Chapter 3? Why?

While Eddie's mother and aunt are visiting him, the phone rings. It is a girl named Norma who works at the cafeteria at City College and who gave him a free sandwich earlier that day when he had gone to the school to sell back his textbooks.
