Ashley and Tyler Mayflower, Melody's parents, both have doctorate degrees and saw the commercialization of pregnancies as a trend long before it was legal or popular. They raise Melody from infancy with an eye toward a profitable pregnancy but then reveal that they'd borrowed money against her future pregnancies to the point that they are deeply in debt by the time Harmony shows up.
