Repetition is employed in the final line of the story to underscore the qualities of language with which Anders had first fallen in love during his youth. Anders is shown to have embraced language for the way in which it could create an emotional impact. This is a far cry from how he views language by the time the bank robber takes Anders's life with a bullet to the head.
