Anders is so accustomed to viewing the world from his ivory tower that he does not understand the very real danger facing him during the bank robbery. It is as though by slowing down to characterize the situation and the characters and the "script" (8), as is his custom, Anders renders himself blind to the real danger before him. Therefore, probably the most educated person in the bank is shown to be the dumbest when it comes to self-protection and the recognition of reality.
