Bruce identifies with Lucio Mondragon's power struggles and squabbles. When Bruce begins to follow Jesus, the same sort of thing happenes to him. His father wants him to be a success with a good job. Bruce's church wants things explained in a traditional way. However, Bruce tells Lucio, Jesus gives him the ability to see beyond all those problems. His belief in Jesus gives him a different outlook on life.
