How does Bruce begin teaching Motilones how to read?

Bruce begins teaching the Motilones how to read. Bobby begins by teaching some of the children. He and Bruce hold class in the afternoon outside the home. Then the older men grumble and say the lessons must stop. They do not believe that children should be taught information that the elders do not know. So Bruce and Bobby stop teaching the children and begin teaching the older men. After a month or so the elders allow the children to have lessons again.
