How do the girls handle the situation with Joseph Justin O’Brien?

When Joseph Justin O’Brien curses at Trish, the girls go back and forth about what to do about him. They initially decide that, because he is a racist and their parents would punish them harshly, to console Trish and do nothing to him. Later on during lunch, limp broccoli gets pelted at his head as a form of revenge.
