How do the girls change once they begin attending the high school for the arts?

The girls, now 15, are learning about topics in school their parents never had the time to learn. They also receive approval from teachers and peers. This has led to less time speaking in their native languages and a greater sense of power, as well as meanness and recklessness regarding their parents.
