Who is Elena Michaels from Broken and what is their importance?

Elena Michaels is the main character and narrator of the novel. She is also the only known female werewolf, making her rare, in more ways than one. As the novel opens, Elena also uncovers that she is pregnant. Elena is a blonde and an attractive woman when she is in human form.

When Elena changes into wolf form, she is strong and loves to run. While she fought the attraction she had for many years to Clayton "Clay" Danvers, the werewolf that bit her and transformed her into a werewolf, Elena is now in a committed relationship with Clay. Clay is also the father of Elena's baby.

Prior to becoming a werewolf, Elena was attending college in Toronto. This is where she met Clay, who was a professor at the time. Elena is a writer or freelance journalist, so she has a lot of contacts that are reporters and such.
