Magda encourages Bridget to enjoy being single because Magda's marriage has fallen apart. Magda gave up her career and ability to earn money so that she could stay home and raise children. Now that her marriage is in trouble she feels trapped, and she does not want Bridget to take her Singleton freedom for granted.
