What things happen in September that draw attention to Bridget's age?

A number of things happen in September which bring attention to Bridget's age. Bridget dates Gav and realizes that she cannot date someone so much younger than she is. She is also subjected to an insulting dinner with the "Smug Marrieds" in which the men discuss how much better they look with age and how much worse women look.
