Bridget's preparation for her August job interview can be seen as uncharacteristic of the Bridget presented so far in the book. Thus far in the book, Bridget has not taken very many things seriously. She has also lacked the follow-through needed to accomplish her New Year's resolutions. By preparing for her interview, the reader sees evidence that Bridget is taking control of her life.
